This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from Sylvain Plourde of Plourde Machine à Coudre in Edmundston.

PLOURDE MACHINE À COUDRE IS A FAMILY BUSINESS THAT HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN FROM FATHER TO SON. MY FATHER AND I SHARED AN INTEREST IN BUSINESS, AND THAT’S HOW I BECAME AN ENTREPRENEUR.
The support of our communities is what we, as local merchants, need at all times but in times of global crisis like we have experienced, it is essential to the survival of our business. It is the support of our local customers that allows us to open our doors every day and keep our employees working.

Supporting local businesses has a real impact because no other form of business can be as responsive to its customers. We celebrated our 55th anniversary on August 11th, and we would not have had this longevity without the support of our community. Thanks!
