This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today we feature Nadine Martin of CHU Dumont Foundation, in Moncton.

I am fortunate to have an amazing team that believes in the cause and is fully committed to their work. Their dedication to our efforts is exemplary, and I am privileged to have them.

Together, we can also count on the support and commitment of a community that stops at nothing to contribute to the cause. As a referral center with specialties that benefit patients from all over the province, and even from elsewhere in the Atlantic, we see better than anyone how health is everyone’s business.

Our annual Tree of Hope campaign is a great example. Across the province, outstanding volunteers raise funds for the Dr. Léon Richard Oncology Centre at CHU Dumont, which in turn allows us to improve the experience of cancer patients both here and in other regions.

We are also fortunate to have a great spirit of collaboration with other like-minded organizations. Over the past few years, you will have seen an increase in cross-foundation collaborations, and this is just the beginning. It’s not a competition, we are all working towards the same goal: the betterment of our community.

Our work also allows people to leave a mark in the community. Through our giving programs, we are able to work with individuals who wish to plan bequests in their wills, or even give to honour the memory of a loved one.

We are particularly proud to be able to support our local businesses through our initiatives and activities. Over the years, they have supported us and helped us achieve our goals and projects, so being able to give back to them and recognize their contributions to the community is important to us.
