This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Mylène Lapierre Of CPA New Brunswick says the organization is committed to providing financial services for free to people in need.
CPA NEW BRUNSWICK IS UNIQUE BECAUSE OUR CHARTERED PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT MEMBERS WORK IN EVERY SECTOR AND INDUSTRY ACROSS THE PROVINCE IN A WIDE VARIETY OF ROLES. WE MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU HIRE A CPA, YOUR ORGANIZATION IS GETTING THE VERY BEST THE ACCOUNTING PROFESSION HAS TO OFFER.
As one of the first organizations in Canada to launch virtual tax clinics for the public in 2020, we support our community by helping people in need complete their tax returns for free via the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
New Brunswickers with a moderate income and simple tax situation can request free income tax filing help from a CPA via our website (Clinic closes April 26).
CPA New Brunswick also provides free financial literacy educational sessions to the public for children, adults, and seniors. These sessions, adapted to take into account current circumstances, are delivered by CPA members who are trusted professional business advisors with a solid reputation among Canadians – their top priority being to protect the public’s interest.
We learned that despite needing to cancel our in-person events, we were still able to provide our members access to over 100 free online professional development webinars to assist them through the difficult first few months of the pandemic, and with a little grit and determination, we were also able to successfully adapt both our Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 conferences to a fully virtual format, which allows our members to learn and fulfill their professional development obligations from anywhere. And, we are now offering our free Financial Literacy sessions in virtual format. Local businesses make a difference because as Maritimers, local IS our business.
