This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series calledNB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from Megan and Sarah Murphy of Marci’s in Saint John.

WE STARTED MARCI’S BASED ON OUR LOVE OF NUTRITIOUS AND FLAVOURFUL EATING, QUALITY INGREDIENTS, THE ENVIRONMENT AND MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT IN OUR COMMUNITY. FOR US, THIS MEANS PROVIDING YUMMY, NUTRIENT-RICH FOOD THAT FUELS YOUR BODY, FILLS YOU UP, AND MAKES YOU FEEL GREAT.

We essentially created a concept that we craved daily! As sisters, family is at the heart of everything we do, including our name. We each have one daughter, Margaret and Ceci, and we merged their names to create Marci’s.

Supporting local this past year has been more important than ever. Although we started planning Marci’s before, we opened our doors in the middle of challenging times and were understandably nervous about what the year would bring. The reception and support we received from our community were truly heartwarming.

As part of our business model, we always look local first: from the handmade pottery that we serve our salads in, to our local produce supplier. We have so many amazing businesses and talented people right here in N.B.

Supporting local lifts everyone up. We are excited to see the other side of this and complete our first full year of business. From there, we have lots of exciting dreams for the future of Marci’s! Supporting local is essential for innovation, and creating an interesting and exciting place to visit and live.
