This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from Matt Hutt And Brent Garrish Of New Maritime Beer Company in Miramichi
AS A COUPLE OF GUYS THAT WERE BORN AND RAISED IN N.B., WE LOVE THAT WE HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING SOMETHING NEW AND EXCITING TO MIRAMICHI. WHILE THERE ARE MANY GREAT THINGS ABOUT BEING ENTREPRENEURS IN OUR HOME PROVINCE THE BEST IS BY FAR THE PEOPLE.
We’ve received so much support since starting this venture both from our community and from people inside the industry. It’s been a challenging first year, but that always brings out the best in New Brunswickers.
When we started this project, our main goal was to bring something new to Miramichi. We’re both extremely proud of our community and seeing the excitement around the craft industry in other areas of the province made us want to bring that vibe back home.
We both came into this with the experience of owning our own businesses, so we were well aware of the time and effort it was going to take to make this work. With how chaotic things can be we rely heavily on each other and our amazing team here at New Maritime.
We’re extremely fortunate to have a wonderful group around us and that makes that balance so much more manageable. It’s also crucial to have the supportive and understanding families we both have.
The support from New Brunswickers allows us to be ourselves. New Brunswick is a very genuine place where authenticity is valued. This allows us to be open and honest with our customers and our community about who we are.
