This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today we feature Marie Cadieux and Louise Imbeault of
Bouton d’or Acadie, in Moncton.
A strong desire to see this valuable publishing house continue to develop for the benefit of children and families, as well as the authors and illustrators of Atlantic Canada, led us to go into business.
We also have an unconditional love for literature, visual creation, and cultural community animation.
For the past 10 years, all of our books have been branded: Created in Acadie-printed in Canada. We practice buying at home, both for our business and in our personal lives. And we encourage our small team to do the same. We have seen the New Brunswick public support local markets, artisans, and also artists, and it makes a difference.
We work very hard to develop partnerships and complicities with schools, cultural, and community associations and the response is excellent.
Supporting local businesses has a real impact because a healthy business radiates throughout the surrounding community ecosystem: family, neighbourhood, village, city, and province.
Almost all of our suppliers are from here: accountants, graphic designers, translators, editors, etc. And above all, we pay a significant amount of royalties to local authors and illustrators each year.
