This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we feature Marc Allain of Carrefour Communautaire Beausoleil in Miramichi.
WE EMPOWER ACADIAN AND FRANCOPHONE COMMUNITIES TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE GROWTH AND INFLUENCE OF THEIR LANGUAGE AND CULTURE IN THE REGION.
Our mission is to promote the development and outreach of Acadian and Francophone communities in the region through a variety of services and activities. We are a hub. Our centre is vibrant and enriching, and everyone is welcome to join us.
The meaning behind the choice of the Carrefour Beausoleil name can be explained as follows: The word Carrefour is linked to the desire to make the Center a meeting place for Francophones in the region.
The second part of the name relates to Joseph Broussard, who was nicknamed Beausoleil. He was a hero of Acadian resistance at the time of the deportation. Overall, we believe in community. Whether that means a linguistic community or not, it’s this sense of togetherness that we are able to create that truly enhances our lives.
