This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from Laura and Wade St. Coeur of Urban Nest in Miramichi.
WE WERE LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE BACK TO MIRAMICHI. WE LIVED AWAY FOR 10 YEARS AND REALLY HAD THE DESIRE TO BE BACK HOME. WE ALWAYS LOVED THE LITTLE BOUTIQUES IN THE CITIES WE LIVED IN AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GREAT ADVENTURE TO OPEN A BOUTIQUE IN MIRAMICHI.
With the support of our families, Urban Nest opened in March of 2015. We added an online shop in 2019 and are hoping to grow that. We currently ship across Canada and would love to reach more customers while growing our work team.
We have always loved shopping local, and have always supported the big and little local stores wherever we lived. Coming from a family of small business owners, I truly know the impact community support has. Supporting your local businesses has an amazing trickle-down effect in a community: everyone in the community benefits from supporting each other. Everyone succeeds.
