This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today we feature Kelsie-Ann Caissie Of Creatively Rooted, In Riverview.
I’ve always been a collector and lover of rocks and anything pre-loved or repurposed, as they seem to tell their own stories, and then become part of mine.
After I experienced an improvement in my own mental health by caring for plants in my space a few years back, I wanted to make plant parenthood more accessible to everyone. Plants keep the best quiet company.
I started making living plant art with rocks and crystals and repurposed materials as a way to try and close the gap. I hope to help people see that all people are plant people, they just have to find the right plants that match with their personalities.
Supporting local is everything to me, and I always take every opportunity to support the smaller shops as opposed to big-box alternatives. Shopping and supporting local is extremely important to me in my personal life but especially in my business.
I chose to source from as many local suppliers for my raw materials as possible (from my crystals and gemstone chips to air plants and sand for my terrariums).
