This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from Katelyn Price Of Juniper.
I WANTED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MY COMMUNITY. ON A PERSONAL LEVEL, I FOUND MYSELF FRUSTRATED WITH MY OWN HABITS REGARDING SUSTAINABILITY.
I wanted to do my part for the environment, but it’s hard to know where to start, and it’s easy to fall into old habits. I figured I couldn’t be the only one with these frustrations, and the first seeds for Juniper were planted. I thought that if there was a convenient, one-stop shop for a variety of zero waste, sustainable products, then people like me would be encouraged to build more sustainable habits into their routines.
Today, Juniper offers sustainable clothing, skincare, and small homewares, as well as a refill station for personal care products and home cleaning supplies.
I have learned that success for a local business goes further than that business itself. In Saint John, we have such a supportive community of small business owners who are all invested in seeing each other succeed. Together, these businesses bring so much vibrancy to our community. Whether it’s with Uptown Sparkles in the winter, or street events throughout the summer, local businesses bring people together, and bring us out to enjoy all that Saint John has to offer.
I hope to continue to grow and expand the variety of products available in the shop, especially in the refill station. Eventually, I hope to offer an online store as well, featuring some of our amazing local artisans and makers.
Supporting local businesses has a real impact because it enriches the lives of your neighbours and your community.
