This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from Jocelyne Bourque and Eric Haché of Château Scoudouc in Scoudouc.

WE HAVE BEEN ENTREPRENEURS FOR MANY YEARS BUT IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. GIVEN THE SITUATION OF THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF, THE MUSIC INDUSTRY HAS BEEN SLOW AND WE DECIDED TO PUT SOME ENERGY INTO OUR MAPLE PRODUCTS PROJECT AND THE RESPONSE HAS BEEN EXCELLENT. WE HAVE MORE THAN 25 PRODUCTS AVAILABLE, A GOOD CLIENTELE IN OUR STORE AND WE ARE PRESENT IN ALMOST 25 POINTS OF SALE IN SOUTH EAST NEW BRUNSWICK.
In the first few months, we have received a lot of support from people in the area, I think we have met the entire population of Scoudouc! People are looking for quality local products and we offer a product that is very well-rated for its health benefits.

We operate our business, including the processing and the store, out of our garage. We have purchased a piece of land next to our house and will be constructing a building to process, store and sell our products. This will give us more space to better organize our store and distribution.
Thanks to the support of local people, we are able to grow our business. That’s how powerful local can be.
