This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from Denise Doiron of Shediac Esthetics Salon in Shediac.

I HAD PREVIOUSLY WORKED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR 13 YEARS AND I WAS SOON TO BE TURNING 30. WELL, WHEN THAT HAPPENS, ALL KINDS OF IDEAS GO THROUGH YOUR HEAD, SO I DECIDED TO TAKE THE PLUNGE, LEAVE THE GOVERNMENT AND GO BACK TO SCHOOL.
After school, I went to work with someone to gain experience and I’ve always known, somehow, that I wanted to be my own boss. That led me to open Shediac Esthetics Salon in December of 1998. I have been loving the ride ever since, even with its ups and downs. It’s the most amazing thing to go have fun every day.

I’ve learned that if you support local, people get to know you, your name and your personality. Supporting local businesses brings all sorts of benefits to the table, and it keeps our communities alive.
