This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from Courtney Steeves of the  Charlotte Street Arts Centre.

WE ARE A COMMUNITY ARTS CENTRE THAT IS A HUB FOR ALL THINGS ARTS IN THE FREDERICTON REGION. WE HAVE AN ACTIVE PERFORMING ARTS SPACE THAT HOSTS DANCE, THEATRE, COMEDY, LIVE MUSIC, AND IS THE HOME BASE OF ARTREACH, WHICH IS OUR FLAGSHIP PROGRAM THAT OFFERS BARRIER-FREE ACCESS TO ARTS TO UNDER-SERVED MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.

We also have 17 tenants who offer their own classes and workshops in a variety of disciplines. We also hold space for community events that range from political forums on the arts, to weddings, and everything in between!

Our work is integrated into the community. We offer subsidized rentals for not-for-profit and charitable organizations, our ArtReach program works with marginalized communities where not only do we bring them into our space but they welcome us into theirs.

Our programs are designed to promote inclusivity and accessibility to the arts. We believe that the arts truly have a place in everyone’s life and we work on finding ways to make that happen. Our partners include L’Arche, Multicultural Association, NB Copes, Chrysalis House, Fredericton Mental Health Association and so many more organizations that help make a positive impact on the lives of New Brunswickers.

Local businesses and organizations make a difference because you are investing in your neighbours and therefore in your community.
