This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today we feature Carol Simpson of NBASSE, in Moncton.
THE NEW BRUNSWICK ASSOCIATION FOR SUPPORTED SERVICES AND EMPLOYMENT (NBASSE) REPRESENTS 38 AGENCIES ACROSS NEW BRUNSWICK THAT PROVIDE A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES, PROGRAMMING, AND EMPLOYMENT PLANNING AND SUPPORT TO APPROXIMATELY 1,000 INDIVIDUALS AGED 19-64 WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.
We advocate on behalf of our member agencies and act as a key information resource hub for agencies, participants, families, employers, and others in the community.
A recent report on employment and volunteer data from our agencies showed that, even during the pandemic, in a six-month period from April to September 2021, their participants accumulated over 50,000 hours of paid and volunteer time worked, making a significant contribution to the labour market and economy of New Brunswick.
With the current labour shortage, our agencies are able to provide an additional source of workers for local employers. Local means all of us, and we’re here to empower everyone to contribute to New Brunswick in any way they can.
