This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series calledNB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we hear from April MacKinnon of Anointment Natural Skin Care in Sackville.

A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE WITH THE BIRTH OF MY FIRST CHILD LED TO A COMPLETE CHANGE IN MY PRIORITIES. MY OWN POSTPARTUM JOURNEY WAS NEGLECTED AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE, WHICH LED TO A PASSION FOR SUPPORTING POSTPARTUM RECOVERY, WELLNESS, AND ADVOCACY FOR SELF-CARE, PARTICULARLY AFTER HAVING A BABY.

I combined my interest in natural living, my background in engineering and environmental ethics into a skincare line comprised of intentionally formulated herbal products that help support physical wellness during pregnancy, postpartum and for new babies.

Supporting local businesses has a ripple effect and an astounding positive impact on our economy. There are so many amazing small businesses in New Brunswick and supporting local is a vote of confidence in your neighbours, your friends, and your community.

By supporting local we create vibrant, strong, and resilient communities. 2020 brought clarity and focus to Anointment. We are working hard to build strong process foundations in our production facility in Sackville, streamline our operations, and leaning into our mission of supporting new parents, particularly during pregnancy and postpartum.

We are working on strategic partnerships with major retailers, building brand awareness and building community through my podcast, the Ripple Effect. Supporting local businesses has a real impact because it creates direct, measurable benefits and opportunities in the communities we call home.
